Flowers in my hair, I don’t care. Whenever I think of flower crowns, the first thing that comes to my mind is the fabulous ”Born to die” video and the even more fabulous Lana del Rey, wearing a gorgeous crown made of pastel blue roses. Soon after the video came out, flower crowns and hair accessories were absolutely everywhere, and Lana became one more influential lady that made us wanna wear flowers in our hair.
So, no matter if you’re into folklore, Frida Kahlo art or the dangerously romantic D&G style, flower power is the way to go. You can make your own flower crown fast and easy, in a few veeery simple steps
P.S. Scroll down for the tutorial 🙂
Step 1: All you need
These are the few things you need to keep close at hand: a thin wire for floral arrangements, cutters, split-joint pliers, ribbon and of course, artificial flowers.
Step 2: Getting ready
Separate the flower heads from the branches by using the cutters, as close as you can get to the actual flower. Use one long wire for as a headband, and cut the rest into 4 inch long pieces. Attach the wires to the flowers by following these steps:
- bend one end of the wire
- slide it through the middle of the artificial flower
- bend the other end
Attach the flowers to the wire base – imagine you’re making a floral wreath. Combine different types of flowers and let your imagination go wild.
Step 3: The ribbon
Make a knot around one end of the wire base that you previously bent (Leave the start of the ribbon just long enough to tie a bow) and then wrap the ribbon around the flower crown, to fix the structure. When you reach the other end, tie another knot to make sure everything stays in place. I suggest you apply a bit of nail polish on the ribbon ends.
Step 4: Enjoy your new beautiful flower crown 🙂
