Hello October!

Do kraja 1970.
Ja sam izabrala klasičnu haljinu na preklop i nezaobilazne tufnice (Burda Style 9/2017, model 113) uz uski džins, topli ručno rađeni šal i moje omiljene salonke.

The wrap dress is the most traditional form of dressing: it’s like a robe, it’s like a kimono, it’s like a toga. It doesn’t have buttons or zippers. What made it different was that it was jersey; therefore, it was close to the body and it was a print

This is how fashion diva Diane von Furstenberg describes her innovation: the wrap dress, a dress that never goes out of style. Simple, incredibly comfortable and sexy, this cult dress is a perfect choice if you want to look feminine yet confident.
No doubt that Diane simply figured out what women want. Or at least – what women need. The wrap dress is easy to wear and style for any occasion, it flatters any body shape, has a V neck that still doesn’t reveal too much and accentuates your waist.
The wrap dress had many shapes before Diane perfected it. Elsa Schiaparelli had a similar design way back in the 1930, and Charles James designed his “taxi dress” – created to make getting in and out of taxi easier for women. Claire Mc Cardell was famous for her “popover dress” (1942), said to be the basis for the wrap dress.
But it was Diane who in 1974, with her suitcase full of hopes and handmade dresses, got to fulfill her American dream. Inspired by the wrap-around tops that ballerinas wore to rehearsals, DVF wrap dress is flattering and easy to wear. The wrap dress sold in more than a million copies by the end of 1970.
I chose to wear a classic wrap dress in polka dots from Burda Style (9/2017, dress 113) with skinny jeans, a warm, handmade scarf and my favorite pair of red pumps. A perfect autumn outfit 🙂 – who said you need to pack up your dresses as soon as it gets a ‘bit cold?
Do you own a wrap dress? What’s your favorite way to style it? 🙂
